WHAT! Sidharth Malhotra-Varun Dhawan Wanted To REPLACE Alia Bhatt In SOTY? Filmmaker Karan Johar Makes Shocking Revelations
Bollywood actors Sidharth Malhotra and Varun Dhawan will be sharing anecdotes from their personal and professional lives in the upcoming episode of Koffee With Karan season 8. Filmmaker Karan Johar will leave no stone unturned to roast his former ‘students’. Having made a smashing debut in Bollywood alongside Alia Bhatt in Student Of The Year in 2012, the filmmaker recently revealed that the actors wanted to replace the actress in the film.

Yes, you read that right! Alia, who has made a name for herself in the entertainment industry with her powerful and versatile performances, was once rejected by both Sidharth and Varun before they even began shooting for the movie. The actors, who themselves have faced a hard time impressing the audience with their acting, went on to deny the allegation made by Johar. The filmmaker went on to reveal how they both sent him messages stating that he couldn’t cast her as the leading lady the first time she walked in. Quoted by Bollywood Life, the 51-year-old filmmaker added, “One of you said she was too young. I am saying it started like this, but when we shot with her three months later for a photo shoot, I remember she stood quiet and didn’t look at either of you. Either she was conscious or shy, because you all already knew me. She didn’t know me at all.” ALSO READ: DID YOU KNOW? Karan went on to state that it was after the photo shoot that he realised that she was the perfect choice for the role of Shanaya. Just as Sid denied all the allegations, the filmmaker asked him to stop pretending and revealed that they even sent him images of other girls who could replace Bhatt. Defending himself further, the 38-year-old actor stated, “But see, that was what was wonderful that she was the underdog within the underdogs here already, then she emerged.”

On the work front, Alia Bhatt was last seen in Karan Johar’s comeback movie Rani Aur Rocky Kii Prem Kahaani. She has Ayan Mukerji’s Brahmastra franchise, Jigra and Farhan Akhtar’s directorial Jee Le Zara alongside Katrina Kaif, Priyanka Chopra Jonas in her pipeline. If reports are to be believed, she will be setting foot in YRF's spy universe as the leading lady. Sidharth Malhotra will be next seen in Yodha and Rohit Shetty’s Indian Police Force. Varun Dhawan has VD18, Citadel, co-starring Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Bhediya 2, a sequel to his 2022 horror comedy in his pipeline.
